Hi! I’m Rini and I’m a Canine Nutrition Consultant. I live in Kolkata and guide pet parents with a bespoke solution and feeding plan for their dogs.

Growing up, I saw my parents care for the street dogs of our community, be it with food or treatment.

The dogs in my neighborhood were my friends and the pets in our home were my family. In fact, my name Rini was chosen so it would rhyme with that of my sister Mini – my parents’ loving Pekingese.

After Mini had passed away, my parents didn’t have the heart to adopt another pet until I brought my pup Naughty home. This was different from having a sister though. I was a parent now and always kept myself up-to-date about taking care of dogs which included their diet.

Being a foodie, I found myself most interested in their food (Yes, I know how it sounds! 😛 ). And though my research into this area had begun with only Naughty in mind, I soon realised that I was in a position to help other dogs as well from all this knowledge and experience that I was gathering.

Food is not only the biggest secret behind a happy and healthy dog but it can also be the first and the safest medicine. Doggit Nutri Zone was conceptualized in 2020 with this idea at its core.

As humans, we all know the importance of healthy, home-cooked meals but we usually end up providing our pets with processed food, manufactured in a factory. Food is the driving force for all of us and it doesn’t take studies (though there are many) to make us understand that fresh-cooked food with bio-available ingredients far outweighs any processed kibble, prolonged exposure to which, by the way, have been linked to multiple diseases in many dogs (again, ask me for the studies).

There’s a lot of information out there about home-cooked food which can be overwhelming for pet parents. Each dog is unique and they deserve well-rounded attention to their nutrition and environment. I aim to simplify meal preparation for your dogs by empowering you with the right knowledge about canine nutrition. It sounds like a lot of work, right? With the right guidance, it can actually be a piece of cake – a delicious cake at that!

In the past three years, my work has given me stories from across India about pets recovering from skin issues to pups growing up to healthy adults. My experience and education have made me realize that nutrition is the foundation of welfare for a dog. Your dog can experience less stress and be more relaxed and calmer with the proper balance of high-quality nourishment. I work closely with pet parents to make this happen.

The multiple visits to pet accessories shop made me note the list of ingredients which were invariably – there’s no other word for it – proper and absolute JUNK. So, long before founding Doggit Nutri Zone, I had begun baking preservative-free treats for Naughty and my community dogs (told ya, I was a foodie!). Now, the menu has expanded to 50+ drool-worthy products which includes treats, pet-friendly cakes, meals, and other fresh items. All of these are PRESERVATIVE-FREE & GRAIN-FREE, curated with human-grade ingredients, keeping the preferences & health of your pets in mind.

FYI, dry items are shipped across India while fresh items are delivered in and around Kolkata only.

Just to add, I am also an active community animal caregiver with over 60+ street dogs under my care. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Protection & Law from NALSAR which comes handy, should there be any incident of animal cruelty near my area. I focus on daily feeding, treatment, and annual vaccinations of all my streeties and receive unconditional love from them in return. So, with each order you place, you are contributing towards the well-being of our community animals. I also actively work for Animal Birth Control and have gotten 200+ street dogs neutered in the past 2 years.

Piggly, now 2 years old, is a rescued indie. He had met with an accident as a pup which left his hind leg damaged permanently. It was an uphill task to nourish him back to health from the pain and agony of the accident but he rewards me for that every day with his happy face and wagging tail.

Nino, now 5 years old, is a survivor of Acute Renal Failure. It took me months to recover her from a very critical state. She was on heavy medications and underwent 2 dialysis cycles. My special diet for her played a crucial role in helping to get her kidney parameters back to normal. She is doing a lot better now and is a happy doggo
